75 years ago, Japan signed an act of surrender, ending World War II

MOSCOW/BEIJING, Sep 2, 2020, Pan Pacific Agency. The Second World War (WWII) became an unprecedented catastrophe in the history of mankind, in which China and the USSR suffered colossal sacrifices and made a huge contribution to the Victory and salvation.

Chinese historians presume that the war in the Far East began on September 18, 1931, long before the start of the fighting against Nazi fascism in Europe, when the first act of Japanese aggression was recorded. At the same time, no one helped China, which had been opposing militarist Japan for many years in those years, except for the Soviet Union.

Official Beijing is doing a lot to call on the Japanese side for a more accurate assessment of the events past war. China no means forcing Tokyo to do so under pressure. Another question that worries Chinese historians is that recently it has been customary to ascribe the fight against militarist Japan exclusively to the United States, which in fact is far from the case.

Particularly indicative are modern interpretations of the results of WWII to please individual countries. So, in March 2020, Neil Hare, the President of the Taiwanese American Chamber of Commerce, announced that the United States has a legitimate historical right to pursue a free policy towards Taiwan (following the example of Trump’s initiative to acquire Greenland), since Washington single-handedly defeated Japan in WWII.

It’s also regrettable that Washington is currently inciting Tokyo to revive the Japanese army in the face of increasing Chinese aggression. This wish was expressed by Gavin Wax, the president of the New York Young Republican Club, in his article for the American edition of Newsweek. Thus, the author argues that the remilitarization of Japan would allow the United States to obtain a full-fledged military ally in the Asia-Pacific region, which, if necessary, could restrain aggression from Beijing.

In this case, we should remind phrase of Chairman Mao about the US participation in the war in the Far East: “If the atomic bomb could decide the result of the war, then why ask the USSR to join this war?”

Modern Chinese youth actively oppose the falsification of history and believe that the revision of the results of World War II is beneficial to those forces that would like to establish a unipolar world. It must be remembered that although Japan did not attack the USSR, Moscow was forced to keep up to 30% of its troops on the Far Eastern frontiers, including equipment that was then urgently needed to fight on the western front.
