Vietnam coach Park aims for triumph over Japan at Asian Cup
DUBAI, Jan 24, 2019, NDO. Vietnam head coach Park Hang-seo has declared that his side will try their best to beat Japan for a semifinal berth as the two teams clash in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Asian Cup at Dubai’s Al Maktoum Stadium at 8pm on January 24 (Vietnam time), reported the Nhan Dan Online.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Park admitted Japan is a strong team and a tough challenge for the Golden Dragons.
“Japan are among Asia’s football powers and regulars at the World Cup finals, and are obviously much stronger than the Vietnamese squad”.
However, the 60-year-old tactician still affirmed his side’s determination to upset the four-time continental champions in tonight’s encounter.
“Vietnam have arrived here and do not intend to stop. We want to create a turning point by defeating Japan to advance to the semifinals. As the head coach, I will do my utmost to help Vietnam emerge as the victors. It’s my responsibility”.
“The Japanese players are experienced and are individually skillful, but we will prepare perfectly to take the challenge and are determined to win the game,” Park stated.
He said that tonight’s clash will be a tough one for Vietnam’s defensive line as Japan will change their playing style. “I think Japan will attack rapidly and constantly right from the first whistle. Vietnam’s backline will be faced with numerous challenges”.
The Republic of Korea coach shared that he has experienced a fantastic year with Vietnamese football, which he said has stemmed from the joint efforts of the whole team and his partners in the coaching staff.
“Vietnam has given me a great chance to revive my career, and I am grateful for that. Therefore, I will do to the best of my ability to reciprocate the hearts of the Vietnamese people,” Park stated.
