N. Korean vice FM leaves for Russia visit

SEOUL, Mar 11, 2019, Yonhap. A senior North Korean diplomat left for Russia on Monday for vice foreign ministerial talks between the two countries, the North’s state media has reported, according the Yonhap.

During the trip, Vice Foreign Minister Im Chon-il also plans to take part in events marking the 70th anniversary of an agreement signed between the two countries on economic and cultural cooperation, the Korean Central News Agency reported.

The one-sentence dispatch provided no further details.

North Korea and Russia have recently been holding a series of talks to expand cooperation in various sectors. Last week, the two countries held trade talks in Moscow and also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperating in the tourism industry.
