Jakarta to host international culinary expo

JAKARTA, Nov 12, 2019, The Jakarta Post. This is a must-attend event for foodies, cooks and food entrepreneurs! The 2019 SIAL Interfood culinary exhibition is set to take place Nov. 13 to 16 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the JIEXPO Kemayoran, The Jakarta Post reported.

Organized by local event management company Krista Exhibition, the event will present food and beverage products such as dairy, egg, meat and seafood items, fruit and vegetables, bakery items, chocolate, coffee and tea, gelato, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, health products, canned food, organic food and frozen food. This year’s exhibition will also showcase hotel, restaurant and catering (horesco) equipment, including kitchen utensils, baking tools, coffeemakers, bakery packaging, refrigerators, cash registers and other food and beverage processors.

The expo, expected to draw 82,000 local and international visitors, will feature 880 food and beverage companies from 30 countries, namely Argentia, Australia, Belgium, China, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Lithuania, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Palestine, Poland, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor Leste, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United States and Vietnam

Visitors can meet representatives of various organizations and associations, culinary experts, chefs and entrepreneurs involved in the event. The 2019 SIAL Interfood culinary exhibition will feature many special programs and competitions.

SIAL Innovations

This program honors the best participants of the SIAL Interfood expo who showcase the most innovative culinary products and equipment. The products of the winners will be exhibited at other SIAL Interfood expos across the globe, such as in Canada, China, France, India and the Middle East.

La Cuisine Competition

The competition enables international chefs to demonstrate their skills. This year, the grand jury will be led by Chef Michael Strautmanis of Australia and consist of 20 WORLDCHEFS approved judges, 11 local chefs and nine rookie judges from Malaysia.

International Pastry Alliance Championship

There will be plenty of pastry and beverage competitions, such as baking and dessert contests, cake decorating, tea brewing, bartending and coffeemaking. Participants will have the opportunity to win money prizes and unique cooking utensils. The championship teams up with several associations, including the Association of Indonesia Specialty Tea, the Indonesian Coffee Training Center and the Indonesian Coffee Industry.

Other spectacular programs at the culinary expo include a coffee roasting class by the Specialty Coffee Association of Indonesia; cooking, baking and cake decorating demonstration; a wine masterclass; and insightful seminars on sterilization technology, the coffee shop business and tea etiquette, among other things.

The 2019 SIAL Interfood culinary exhibition is supported by many governmental institutions and culinary associations, such as the Industry Ministry, the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, the Trade Ministry, the Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry, the Agriculture Ministry, the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry, the Indonesian Chefs Association, the Indonesia Pastry Alliance (IPA) and the Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and others.

The 2019 SIAL Interfood is a business-to-business platform that provides opportunities for participating companies to promote their products, seek new business opportunities and invent innovations in the food and beverage industry.
