Indonesia extradites Malaysian and Phillippine citizens to South Korea for drug crimes

JAKARTA, Nov 9, 2019, Jakarta Globe. The Justice and Human Rights Ministry extradited two foreign nationals – a Malaysian citizen and a Philippine citizen – who were allegedly involved in drug crimes to South Korea, an official said in Jakarta on Thursday, Jakarta Globe reported.
“The government of the Republic of Korea [South Korea] sent an extradition request under the Indonesia-South Korea extradition agreement,” said Tudiono, the director of international law at the ministry.
He said the two foreigners allegedly smuggled 2,000 grams of methamphetamine into South Korea, violating the country’s Law on Specific Crime.
The two individuals were arrested in Bali by Indonesian police after receiving a red notice from the South Korean government through Interpol.
Indonesian officials handed them over to their South Korean counterparts in Bali on Thursday afternoon.
The ministry identified the two people as A.G. from Malaysia and L.T.K. from the Philippines.
