MESUJI, Feb 24, 2019, ANTARA News. Hundreds of homes located several villages in Way Serdang Sub-district, Mesuji District, Lampung Province, have been inundated by flood waters triggered by incessant heavy rain, since four days ago, reported the ANTARA.

“Inhabitants of Mesuji are scared of crocodiles and snakes as their homes are flooded,” Abdul Kadir, Labuhan Village Chief, said here, Sunday.

One resident fell unconscious after seeing a crocodile, he said, adding that there were also reports of snakes crawling in a cupboard and a bed.

Kadir said his village was flooded every year.

The flood-affected villages in Mesuji were Tebing Laut, Talang Batu, and Tebing Karya Mandari.

Floods also spoiled hundreds of hectares of rice fields in Mesuji.

Meanwhile, floods triggered by incessant heavy rain, have submerged hundreds of homes in several sub-districts in Tulangbawang District, Lampung Province, since Saturday.

“So far, the district authorities have not dealt with the flooding problem here,” Yusman, 39, a local inhabitant of Menggala said on Sunday.

The flooding affected Menggala, Gedung Meneng, Rawa jitu, Rawapitu and Dente Teladas sub-districts in Tulangbawang.

The Tulangbawang authorities have not deployed rescue personnel to help flood victims, he said.

He said flood victims needed the presence of disaster mitigation officers to help them in emergency efforts.
