PHNOM PENH, Dec 9, 2021, Khmer Times. Cambodia and some other ASEAN nations – Brunei, the Philippines, and Malaysia – have appreciated their military cooperation and vowed to continue fostering their collaboration for their mutual interest, Khmer Times reported.

The appreciation was underlined in three separate meetings via videoconference on Dec. 7-8 between Gen. Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), and Maj. Gen. (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Lt. Gen. Andres C. Centino, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines; and Gen. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Affendi bi Haji Buang, Chief of Defence Forces of Malaysia.

On the occasion, the RCAF commander-in-chief and his Brunei, Philippine and Malaysian counterparts exchanged views on the armed forces’ contribution with the government in the fight against COVID-19.

They also shared the same stance to continue strengthening and expanding their cooperation interrupted for a certain period of time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As RCAF is the 19th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces’ Meeting (ACDFM-19), Gen. Vong Pisen invited his Brunei, Philippine and Malaysian counterparts to physically participate in the meeting to be held in March 2022 in Phnom Penh.
