PHNOM PENH, Nov 2, 2019, The Khmer Times. Royal Cambodian Army Commander Lieutenant General Hun Manet has lashed out at Sam Rainsy’s ambiguous diplomatic stance with China, The Khmer Times reported.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Lt. Gen Manet has uploaded a video, in which Mr Rainsy who at that time served as president of the now-dissolved CNRP and gave an interview to a Chinese media.

Lt. Gen Manet noted that during the interview conducted on February 10, 2014, Mr Rainsy said the CNRP was pro-China, noting that Western power never aid CNRP a single dollar.

“There are also Chinese people who support us. Actually, the CNRP is the ally of china. Take just one issue, the CNRP fully supports China in the assertion of her sovereignty over the Shinsha and the Nansha Island in the South China Sea,” Mr Rainsy said in the interview.

“The CPP would never fully support China as the CNRP does,” Mr Rainsy added.

Lt. Gen Manet said Mr Rainy’s diplomacy with China is now confusing his supporters and followers.

“At that time he told a Chinese media that he supports China, but some other times he said he hates China and Chinese people are bad… His diplomacy is vague. Observers are now confused,” Lt. Gen Manet said.
