Diving team to check diesel patch from MT New Diamond

COLOMBO, Sep 9, 2020, Sri Lanka Mirror. A diving team has been deployed to investigate the diesel patch which was observed to be extending from the distressed Crude Oil Tanker, MT New Diamond, Navy Spokesperson Captain Indika De Silva said, Sri Lanka Mirror reported.

A three-man salvage expert team has boarded the ship, he added today (09).

The Navy Spokesperson added that the distressed ship was towed further away towards safe waters by a tug and is now about 41 nautical miles off Sangamankanda Point.

There are no flames or smoke to be noticed from the distressed ship, he further said.
