Body found during search for Irish teen Nora Anne in Malaysia

PETALING JAYA, Aug 14, 2019, FMT. A body has been found in the search for Franco-Irish teen Nora Anne Quoirin, police confirmed this afternoon, reported the Free Malaysia Today.
However, they said it could not be ascertained if it is the body of the 15-year-old teen who went missing from the Dusun Resort in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, on Aug 4.
Earlier, The Lucie Blackman Trust, a UK-based missing persons charity, also confirmed the discovery of a body in a statement.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Mohamad Mat Yusof said the body, which he described as that of a “fair-skinned individual”, was found at 1.57pm by the search and rescue operations team looking for Nora Anne.
Bernama quoted him as saying that forensic police had been contacted.
In its statement, The Lucie Blackman Trust said “it sadly seems likely” that the body is that of Nora Anne.
“Investigations are underway to confirm the identity and cause of death,” it said.
“The charity will update as soon as possible. Please respect the family and do not approach them at this difficult time.
“All at The Lucie Blackman Trust are thinking of the family and continue to support them as they come to terms with this news.”
Nora Anne had checked into the resort with her parents, Sebastian and Meabh, and siblings Innes Julia and Maurice Arthure on Aug 3 as part of a two-week holiday.
She was found missing from her room the next day.
Several hundred personnel, including members of the elite police VAT 69 commandos, seasoned hikers and Orang Asli were involved in the search and rescue efforts.
The trust had offered a reward of RM50,000 for information leading to Nora Anne’s safe return.
