Attack of four cops: 18 African men arrested in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Jul 29, 2019, NST. The police have detained 18 African men in connection with the attack on four police personnel who were conducting an operation at the Flora Damansara apartment in Petaling Jaya recently, reported the New Straits Times.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador said the men were detained to facilitate investigation into the incident.

According to him, stern action will be taken if the men are found guilty.

“Action will be taken against anybody who breaks the law. This is not about race or nationality.

”We do not entertain such irresponsible acts. The attack on police personnel was unacceptable as they were merely doing their duty in the public interest,” he told reporters after the launch of the Autism Guideline roadshow, here, today.

Earlier, on July 27, Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat confirmed that 10 African men were arrested to facilitate investigation in the July 25 incident.

Three policemen and a police officer from the Commercial Crime Investigation Department, Petaling Jaya district police headquarters were attacked while trying to arrest a Nigerian man suspected of being involved in African scams.

One of the officers were injured in the 11pm incident.
