MANILA, Jul 1, 2019, The Inquirer. Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Monday threatened to revoke the permit of the University of the East which did not suspend classes in defiance of his order, reported The Inquirer.

Moreno said that if UE refuses to follow orders of the city government, it must move out of the capital city.

“University of the East, wag matigas ulo niyo ah. Nagdeklara na kami ng suspensyon ng klase. Ngayon, kung ayaw niyong sumusod, umalis kayo sa lungsod ng Maynila. We will withdraw your permit to operate in the City of Manila (Do not be stubborn, UE. I have declared the suspension of classes in all levels, Now, if you cannot follow city government orders, then you better move out of Manila),” Moreno said after receiving reports that UE only suspended classes up to Grade 12.

Moreno ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools in Manila due to inclement weather.

“We are after the welfare of our students, we owe it to the public. You harmonize with the city government,” Moreno stressed.

Moreno announced the suspension of classes in Manila at 9:49 a.m. But UE Manila only suspended its classes from Kinder up to Grade 12 an hour later as shown in its advisory posted in its Facebook page at 10:52 a.m.
