Cambodia’s Sihanoukville International Airport to get new terminal

SIHANOUKVILLE, Feb 28, 2020, The Khmer Times. The construction of a new terminal at Sihanoukville International Airport is expected to facilitate 3.6 million air passengers for 2020-2030, The Khmer Times.

The update was unveiled in a meeting between Mao Havannal, Minister in charge of State Secretariat of Civil Aviation of Cambodia and Mr. Alain Brun, Chief Executive Officer of Cambodia Airports here in Phnom Penh recently.

Mao Havannal underlined that the construction of the new terminal is a part of a project to expand Sihanoukville International Airport.

It is the first stage of the planned construction of a total three phases which will eventually allow handing capacity for 5 to 10 million passengers from 2030-2040, he added.

The first phase of the airport’s passenger handling capacity is scheduled to complete in 2022.

According to Cambodia Airports, the company developing and managing the three international airports in the Kingdom, passenger traffic in all international airports of Cambodia grew 10.2 percent year-on-year to 11.6 million passengers in 2019.
