Reports of Wuhan virus detected at Cambodia’s Sihanoukville are fake news: Ministry of Health

PHNOM PENH, Jan 24, 2020, The Khmer Times. Secretary of State at Health Ministry Or Vandin dismissed as fake news spread on Facebook, claiming that Wuhan has entered Cambodia through Sihanoukville International Airport. Vandin appeals to the public not to trust information from Facebook source, but wait for the updates from the Ministry of Health, The Khmer Times reported.

Wuhan coronavirus, a cousin of the SARS virus, has infected hundreds since the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December. The virus has spread to five other countries: Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and the US, according to international media’s report.

Meanwhile in China, its president, President Xi Jinping said that China stands ready to work with the international community to effectively curb the spread of the pneumonia cases caused by a new strain of coronavirus to uphold global health security.

Xi said that since the outbreak of the contagion, China has made all-out efforts to prevent and control the disease, promptly disclose related information, and informed the World Health Organization as well as relevant countries and regions about the disease in a timely manner.
