DHAKA, Jan 5, 2019, Dhaka Tribune. Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the BNP has resorted to submitting complaints to foreign countries after its defeat in the 11th parliamentary election, reported the Dhaka Tribune.

He also termed BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir a defeated politician.

Quader made the comment at a press conference, held after a party meeting at the Awami League central office at Gulistan on Saturday.

“People have rejected the BNP, and it has no option but to complain to foreign countries. We want to thank the BNP for participating in the election,” he said.

Thanking the people for voting Awami League into power, Quader added: “I want to express my gratitude to the people of this country, and the Election Commission, who made the free and fair election possible.”

The Awami League leader also said the ruling party is united and there is no conflict among party leaders.

Earlier in the day, several Awami League leaders including Obaidul Quader paid tribute to the late political Syed Ashraful Islam, who died while undergoing treatment in Thailand on Thursday.

Awami League Joint General Secretaries Mahabubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman were present at the press conference, among many others.
