Three arrested in counter terror raids across Sydney

SYDNEY, Jul 2, 2019, 9News. Three people have been arrested in counter terror raids across Sydney’s south west, reported the 9News.

The three are currently at Bankstown police station where they are expected to be charged with using an online service to plan a terror attack and having links to Islamic State.

Six raids were carried out this morning at Greenacre, Canada Bay, Toongabbie, Chester Hill and Ingleburn.

Police smashed down doors and dragged suspects out during the raids, arresting three people aged 20, 23 and 30.

The AFP has released a statement saying there is no immediate threat to the safety of the community.

“The NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) can confirm it is conducting operational activity in Sydney today,” it said.

“There is no immediate threat to the safety of community as a result of this activity.”
