3 militants killed in encounter in Tral area of south Kashmir

NEW DELHI, Jun 26, 2020, India Today. Three militants have been killed in another encounter that broke out in Chewa Ullar area of Tral in Pulwama district of South Kashmir. The gunbattle between militants and security forces had started on Thursday evening and went on till Friday morning, India Today reported.

The gunbattle was briefly halted at Thursday night.

Police sources have told India Today TV that all the three militants have been killed in the exchange of fire. Two armed forces personnel may have also suffered injuries.

Officials have been confirmed that all the three militants are local youths who had taken up arms to join militancy. They belonged to the Tral area.

Earlier an official said that a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation after receiving specific information on the presence of militants in the area.

The official also added that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the militants opened fire, triggering an encounter.

This is the 12th encounter in South Kashmir region in June in which 33 militants have been killed so far.
