Microsoft opens its third India engineering center

NEW DELHI, Feb 18, 2020, Geek Wire. Microsoft today announced the launch of a new engineering center in India, doubling down on the country where it first established operations in 1990, Geek Wire reported.
The India Development Center in the “National Capital Region” city of Noida is Microsoft’s third office in the country, following the establishment of outposts in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Microsoft called its India offices “a true microcosm of engineering” at the company. The new engineering hub will host teams from several major wings of the company, including Artificial Intelligence & Research, Cloud & Enterprise, Experience & Devices and Mixer, making the office the first place outside of the Redmond, Wash. HQ campus to house engineers for the game-streaming service.
“Microsoft entities,” the company said, have a total of 10,000 employees working in 11 cities in India. In addition to engineering and R&D roles, Microsoft has people focused on sales and marketing and customer service.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will visit India later this month.
