Peruvian ministers meet with China’s Sinopharm delegation

LIMA, Sep 15, 2020, ANDINA. Peruvian Ministers Mario Lopez (Foreign Affairs) and Pilar Mazzetti (Health) received a delegation from the Chinese laboratory Sinopharm to know the progress of its COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials in Peru, ANDINA reported.

Held on Monday at the Foreign Affairs Ministry headquarters in Lima, the meeting featured Chinese Ambassador to Peru Liang Yu, as well as rectors of Cayetano Heredia and San Marcos Universities.

During the gathering, the participants reaffirmed that getting the COVID-19 vaccine is a national objective.

The Chinese scientific delegation arrived on September 2, bringing the COVID-19 vaccine doses for the Phase 3 clinical trials.

6,000 volunteers have been recruited in Peru in order to participate in the immunization phase.
