President guarantees dialogue to find solution to Las Bambas conflict in Peru

LIMA, Mar 30, 2019, ANDINA. President Martin Vizcarra on Friday affirmed his administration is open to dialogue in order to find a solution to the problem regarding Las Bambas mining project, within the framework of democracy and the rule of law, reported the ANDINA.

“Democracy is a system that enables solving conflicts without violence on the basis of dialogue and understanding,” the Head of State expressed.

However, the top official underlined his government maintains a firm stance against violence, crime, and extortion.

Likewise, he ratified his administration’s commitment to continuing working to boost development in the poorest towns of the Inca country.

For instance, the statesman mentioned the current controversy between the Fuerabamba community and Las Bambas mining project.

“We are aware of the long-postponed demands which, as the State, we must meet,” he added.

Remarks were made during the swearing-in ceremony of Attorney General Zoraida Avalos held at the Public Ministry’s headquarters.
