Peru President rules out water privatization

LIMA, Feb 15, 2019, ANDINA. Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday affirmed his administration will not privatize water services and said he never had the intention to do so since this is a basic service for the entire population, reported the ANDINA.

In this sense, the Head of State indicated the Executive Branch will boost projects aimed at increasing water coverage throughout the country.

“Water is life and development. It is the foundation of progress in all human activity fields,” he expressed.

“There is no intention to privatize water and that needs to be absolutely clear,” the top official added.

Likewise, the statesman urged municipal and regional authorities to work without corruption.

Vizcarra’s remarks were made during his working visit to Cusco region.
