Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) is an economy of 23.5 million people. In 1991, the year it joined APEC, the current GDP of Chinese Taipei was recorded at USD 187 billion, while its per capita GDP was USD 9,000. The GDP of Chinese Taipei more than doubled by 2016, at USD 573 billion, as did its per capita GDP at USD 24,000.
