MANILA, Nov 6, 2020, The Manila Times. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has completed the first step of the registration of more than 3 million Filipinos to the national identification (ID) system, The Manila Times reported.

Data released by Acting Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua on Friday showed that 3,315,422 low-income individuals had completed Step 1 of their registration with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as of November 4.

Step 1 involves the collection of the demographic information of the low-income household heads in 664 cities and municipalities in 32 provinces.

To ensure that health and safety protocols are met, the PSA has said its enumerators conduct house-to-house collection of demographic information of a sample of low-income household heads from the 32 priority provinces.

It can be noted that the agency kicked off the Step 1 registration on October 12 this year. It is targeting to register at least 9 million Filipinos before the year ends.
