Malaysia to host ASEAN Digital Ministers’ meeting next year

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25, 2019, Bernama. Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo today announced that Malaysia will host the Asean Digital Ministers’ meeting next year. In a posting on his Facebook and Twitter, Gobind said the Asean digital master plan will be launched at the meeting, reported the Bernama.

Gobind is attending the two-day meeting of Asean Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers (TELMIN) which began in Vientiane, Laos.

He is accompanied by officers of his ministry and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

“TELMIN is an annual meeting of Asean ministers responsible for information technology and telecommunications to discuss current issues and trends as well as the direction of the agenda for Asean information and communications technology (ICT) development for the next year,” he said.

He said that through TELMIN Asean could also have dialogues with China, Japan, Korea, India, the European Union, the United States and International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
