Residents in five Malaysia’s coastal districts told to brace for high tide phenomenon

SHAH ALAM, Aug 29, 2019, NST. Five districts in Selangor – Klang, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam – are forecasted to be hit with a high tide phenomenon starting this Sunday (Sept 1) until Oct 10, reported the New Straits Times.

The water level was predicted to rise between 5.5m to the highest reading of 5.7m.

The Selangor state government cautioned that there could be flood risks at over 50 areas in the districts if it rains coupled with strong winds and advised residents in the respective areas to adhere to authorities’ instructions.

In a statement, the Smart Selangor Command Centre said the phenomenon will begin Sunday and Monday (7.23am and 8.02am Mon), Sept 29 to Oct 2 (6.20am,7am,7.36am and 8.09am) and Oct 27 till Oct 30 (5.10am, 5.53am,6.33am and 7.08am) along the Selangor coastline.
