Philippine govt rolls out step 2 registration for ID system in malls

MANILA, Jun 18, 2021, The Manila Times. The government will roll out the step 2 registration of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys)in partnership with SM Prime Holdings Inc, The Manila Times reported.

In a statement on Friday, the Philippine Statistics Authority said the partnership was sealed through a memorandum of understanding signed last June 14 to officially establish the nationwide participation of SM Supermalls in the rollout of PhilSys registrations.

“[This] MOU will further the formidable partnership between PSA and SM Supermalls through a joint and cooperative initiative to register all Filipino citizens and resident aliens to the official National Identity Card,” Steven Tan, Shopping Center Management Corp. president, said.

Tan assured that SM Supermalls will continue to keep its branches secure and orderly for them to finish their registration

According to PSA, SM Supermalls has set up Step 2 Registration centers in 13 of its Metro Manila and Luzon locations. In the following weeks, registration facilities will be available in additional SM mall branches in collaboration with PSA regional offices.
