PHNOM PENH, Jun 18, 2020, The Khmer Times. The government said today that it will not charge Cambodians holding foreign passports for lab testing, and medical treatment while foreign diplomats are allowed to have self-quarantine upon arrival in the Kingdom, The Khmer Times reported.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Ministerial Committee to Combat COVID-19 today, Cambodians holding foreign passports with Visa K will be exempted from paying health insurance and $3,000 deposit for lab test, quarantine and treatment.

“But they are required to obtain health certificates for COVID-19 Free issued by Health Authority accredited by the host country that declare no COVID-19, with 72 hours validity prior to departure,” said Health Minister Mam Bun Heng, who also heads the committee.

Mr Bun Heng said that diplomats and international NGO officials who return to the Kingdom must ensure they are free of COVID-19 and have a 14-day self-quarantine.

The government earlier this month decided to charge all foreign visitors $3,000 for lab testing, medical treatment and accommodation under health measures to prevent a second wave of COVID-19 transmission in the country.
