MANILA, Jun 6, 2020, PhilStar. At least 100 Chinese were arrested during a raid on an illegal coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) testing laboratory in Las Piñas yesterday, The Philippine Star reported.

Cesar Bacani, National Capital Region director of the National Bureau of Investigation, told reporters that some 100 Chinese employees were being tested using rapid testing kits.

He said the rapid testing was supposedly a requirement for the employees’ reinstatement at work.

A Chinese doctor and several Filipinos, who were administering the tests, were also arrested.

Testing kits and medicines with Chinese characters were also recovered at the laboratory. The drugs are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Bacani said.

The NBI would file charges of violating the FDA law and illegal practice of medicine, he added.
