PHNOM PENH, Mar 12, 2022, The Phnom Penh Post. The militaries of Cambodia and Thailand have announced plans to strengthen marine cooperation, according to a statement from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), The Phnom Penh Post reported.
The commitment was made during a meeting between RCAF commander-in-chief General Vong Pisen and Thai navy deputy commander Somprasong Nilsamai, who led a delegation to Cambodia for an official visit on March 11. This was his first visit to the Kingdom since assuming his current position.
“This visit is to strengthen and extend our existing cooperation, especially between the naval forces of the two countries,” Somprasong Nilsamai said, as quoted by the RCAF.
General Pisen said the security situation along the borders of the two countries is good and reiterated Cambodia’s desire for peaceful border. He also spoke of the Kingdom’s wish for shared friendship, cooperation and development with all neighbouring countries.
