‘First major display of Russian fine art’ opens on Friday in Macao

MACAO, Jan 15, 2019, Macau Daily. The exhibition “Masterpieces of Russian Art from the State Tretyakov Gallery” will be inaugurated on Friday at 6:30p.m. at the Macao Museum of Art (MAM). The exhibition features a total of 70 oil paintings and sculptures collected by the State Tretyakov Gallery from the end of the 18th century to the present, reported the Macau Daily.

With more than 180,000 works, the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow is an art museum that houses the largest collection of Russian paintings in the world. This exhibition in Macau includes masterpieces by celebrated artists of “The Wanderers” and works by Russian artists depicting the folk culture, natural landscapes and portraits of Russian celebrities. According to a press release issued yesterday by MAM, the event will be “the first major display of Russian fine art in Macau.”
