One Russia’s security service FSB officer killed in shootout in downtown Moscow
MOSCOW, Dec 20, 2019, TASS. One member of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) was killed on Thursday in a shootout in downtown Moscow, the FSB told reporters, according to the TASS.
“One FSB officer was killed in a shootout in central Moscow,” the FSB informed.
Earlier, the FSB informed that the shooter who opened fire in downtown Moscow was killed. The Moscow police temporarily stopped traffic in the area, with buses in central Moscow following a modified route. The Moscow metro warned that entry and exit to Lubyanka metro station might be restricted under instructions from the police.
Five people were injured in the shooting incident in the Lubyanka area in central Moscow, the Russian Health Ministry told reporters on Thursday. Unidentified individual opens fire in central Moscow, casualties reported, FSB says.
The shooter who opened fire in central Moscow acted alone, the Federal Security Service told reporters. The security agency also disproved reports that there were three perpetrators who entered the FSB building.
The Federal Security Service (FSB) told reporters earlier that an FSB staff member was killed in the shooting incident. The perpetrator was neutralized. Following the incident, motorway traffic was stopped in the area near Bolshaya Lubyanka Street and buses changed their itineraries.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov informed TASS earlier that Russian President Vladimir Putin had been briefed about the incident.
