Blast on tanker kills 3 in Russia’s Far East

MOSCOW, Nov 3, 2019, China Daily. A mixture of gas and air went off on board an oil tanker in Nakhodka Bay in Russia’s Far East on Saturday, leaving two people dead and another missing, China Daily reported.

No blaze was observed and investigators have launched a criminal case over the incident, Sputnik news agency reported, citing a statement from the regional branch of the Russian Investigative Committee.

A spokesperson of the Nakhodka port authority told Sputnik that the name of the tanker is Zaliv Amerika.

2 crew were killed by explosion, 1 was thrown overboard and later found dead. There was no fire after explosion. According to insiders posts in social nets, fuel gases exploded in empty cargo tanks, their reports confirmed by local media photos. Tanker was towed from explosion site at Nakhodka port entrance to tankers anchorage, AIS is on, FleetMon reported.
