Russia’s flagship innovation forum in Skolkovo is taking place with the partnership of S. Korea

MOSCOW/SKOLKOVO, Oct 20, 2020, Pan Pacific Agency. This year, Russia and S. Korea are marked the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic ties establishment under the joint slogan “Make friends, trust, act.” That’s why current Open Innovations Forum will be held with a participation of the officials, govt organizations and private companies from South Korea as a partner country.

“Despite the global pandemic and physical distances, our representatives to take part in the forum for three days, including conferences and an exhibition. At the same time, Korea is planning to hold offline events related to the forum in order to expand successful cooperation in the innovative direction between the two countries,” S. Korean ambassador Lee Sok-bae said during the Open Innovations Forum opening ceremony yesterday (Oct 19).

The event also was attended by Dmitry Chernyshenko, the deputy PM of Russia, Viktor Vekselberg, the chairman of the board at the Skolkovo Foundation, and Arkady Dvorkovich, the chairman at the Skolkovo Foundation. Open Innovations Forum is the leading expert platform that annually brings together leaders of the innovative economy, Mr. Chernyshenko said. The exchange of knowledge and experience, joint discussions of current research make it possible to determine trends in innovative development, he noted.

“The President of Russia signed a decree on five national development goals until 2030, and for the first time digital transformation was named one of such goals. Now it’s the highest priority defined by the president and the whole state. For all of us, this is a signal for the development of the market, for the formation of a sustainable model of the economy precisely through the prism of digital transformation,” Dmitry Chernyshenko said.

On Oct 20, the 4th Korea-Russia Technology Day (also knowing as Korea-Russia Innovation Cooperation Forum) to be held in Skolkovo. A roundtable discussion will examine new opportunities for development and cooperation between startups and tech businesses with support from the Korea-Russia Joint Innovation Platform backed by both govts. The event’s guest speakers represent leading support institutions and technology funds from both countries, i.e. KORUSTEC, Skolkovo Foundation, KISED, WECO, Hyundai Motor CIS, RVC, KRIC, VEB Ventures, Ministry of economic development of Russia, NIPA, KOTRA and TIPA.
