Russia’s nationwide vote on constitutional amendments to hold on July 1: Putin

MOSCOW, Jun 1, 2020, Pan Pacific Agency. Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the date of the nationwide vote on constitutional amendments. Voting to take place on July 1, the president said during the meeting with working group to prepare amendments.

July 1 is the best date for voting, the chairman of the Russian Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova said. Vladimir Putin agreed. Ms. Pamfilova also suggested to hold vote within a week: “not only on that day on the date, but also within six days before this main day”.

The vote on constitutional amendments was scheduled for April 22, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. On May 28, the Central Election Commission approved the recommendations of Russia’s healthcare wathdog (Rospotrebnadzor) on the organization of voting.
