NEW DELHI, Nov 25, 2019, India Today. The much-awaited fifth-generation Honda City has made its world premiere in Thailand. The new sedan comes with a host of changes not only to the exteriors and interiors but also under the hood. We are expecting it to be launched in India in 2020, India Today reported.

Boasting of a completely refurbished front fascia on the lines of the 2019 Honda Civic, the fifth-generation City looks sportier than ever with its sharp character lines. It gets features like chrome front grille, projector headlights with LED DRLs, LED tail lights, shark fin antenna and newly-designed 15-inch alloy wheels, to give it a bold look.

The new-generation Honda City’s cabin is more spacious than its predecessor. Besides, the luxury quotient has increased manifold. The black interiors are complemented by the two-tone (ivory/black) leather seats, Piano Black console and chrome inside door handles. The multi-function steering wheel, MID with illumination, 8-inch advanced touch display audio with Apple CarPlay and Siri Voice Control and automatic air-conditioning system add to the premium feel.

Talking about the safety aspect, the 2020 Honda City gets features like a G-force control body structure, six airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brake distribution, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist and multi-angle rearview camera.

The Thailand-spec 2020 Honda City is powered by a new 3-cylinder, 12-valve, 1.0-litre VTEC turbo engine making 122 PS and 173 Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with paddle shift option. The mill delivers a mileage of 23.8 kmpl, as per the Thai testing standards.

We are expecting the 2020 Honda City to be launched in India with the 1.0-litre VTEC turbo engine option. Besides, the India-spec fifth-generation City will have BS6-compliant 1.5-litre powertrain (petrol and diesel) choices as well.

The fifth-generation Honda City also gets an RS variant that comes loaded with several sporty parts, including gloss black front grille with RS logo emblem, LED headlights with LED DRLs, LED fog lights, black power-retractable side door mirror with turning light, gloss black trunk spoiler with an RS logo and 16-inch Alloy Wheels. The Honda City RS also gets newly-designed suede leather seats with red stitching and an exclusive Ignite Red exterior colour.
