New India’s lockdown will have entirely new rules: PM Modi adressed to the nation

NEW DELHI, May 12, 2020, India Today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation today. It’s the first time Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation since the number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases crossed the 10,000-mark at the time of his previous address on April 14, India Today reported.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “The only way to make the 21st century our age is a self-reliant India.” “When the coronavirus outbreak began, there was negligible production of PPE kits in India. Today, every day 2 lakh PPE and 2 lakh N95 masks are being made in India. This is because India converted crisis into opportunity,” PM Modi added.

Prime Minister announces Rs 20 lakh crore financial package. This financial package will act as the foundation stone for a self-reliant India, the Prime Minister said. This package is 10 per cent of India’s GDP and will support various sectors. “This package emphasises on land, labour and other crucial factors. It is for MSME, agriculture and other sectors that employ millions. It is for those farmers, labourers and middle-class that pays tax and contribute to India’s growth,” he added.

Narendra Modi said that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will announce the details of the financial package starting Wednesday.

Lockdown 4 will be different and have new rules; you will be informed about it before May 18, PM Modi said.

In his March 19 address, the prime minister announced a “janta curfew” on March 22. On March 24, he announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown. On April 14, he extended the lockdown period till May 3. On April 3, in a video message, Modi asked the nation to light lamps for frontline corona warriors on April 5. The lockdown was further extended till May 17 by the Home Ministry.
